Fishing Blog

Well it has been almost 6 months since I made an entry in the blog. Well I can definitely say that it hasn't been because I haven't been fishing. I have been to Michigan and Iowa for month long fishing trips. I have made another trip to a reservoir in Idaho. I am planning other trips to vacation with my Grandsons. WOW! Who would have thought that retirement could be so great! My only problem is finding enough time to do everything. I will try to do better.

I will recap my Michigan trip by saying that the perch fishing in Canada was absolutely fantastic. I plan to go back when the fishing can be done from a boat. The picture above shows Slim and John with a days catch. There is some 13 inch perch in those buckets. There was a couple of trips made to Lake St Clair but the fishing was very slow. I did manage to keep up my walking and didn't gain any weight during my stay.
Woah...all these new directions and all I wanted to do was create a new post??? Oh well ...  I have lots of time to "kill', humm seems as though I created an italic version of my typing?? There i figured out how to type regular...oh my this is  too much for an Ole Farte to digest. All I wanted to do was too visit my blog site, and maybe post a new photo or two. Can this be so hard? No ...I won't quit! I may be mentally handicapped but I am not a quitter. So here goes...I posted some photos on fb so I will just use them here. That should be easy ....right?

This is an Osprey. She/he is an amazing bird. How do you tell which sex a bird is? Any who...it is occupying a nest above a pond that I visit daily...at least when the gate is open. Since the river has been flooding the pond it has been closed only one day. This morning during my visit to the pond I was the witness to the Osprey getting a drink from the pond.....what is so unusual about that you ask? Well she was doing it while in flight! Sorta like skimming across the water at low level and putting her beak in the water and barely breaking the surface with it. She/he then flew back up to the nest and resumed position on it ... usually signifying that they are warming the eggs in the nest. From the angle I can view the nest and I took this photo I can't tell if there are any eggs in the nest.....but one can only assume that there are. Sadly I didn't have my camera at ready when the Osprey got a drink from the pond. So you'll just have to take my word for it. Sorta like a used car salesperson saying that it is a great car...trust me!
Well I did take a photo of the Syringa trees/bushes around the pond. They seemingly can to life..bloom..over night!

Sorta pretty aren't they? It is the Idaho State Flower. Why in the world would I be at a muddy ole pond taking photos of a tree/bush? Well only one reason could attract me to such a place...
FISH....even the steady rain didn't deter my efforts to secure a limit of very nice rainbow trout from stocked  pond. I had the place to myself ... my thoughts were never interrupted by any other fisherman catching any of "my" fish! I had the pond to myself! It was a glorious day. I left after catch'n my limit!
