TROUT - The forcus of today's fishing trip was to catch some trout for the smoker and to take Duane's boat on a run to check the recently maintained engine. The engine worked great. He didn;t bring his depth finder which proved to be a mistake. The trout fishing was very slow! We managed to catch a limit after 4 hours of hard fishing. We caught a tagged fish (10.5 in rainbow) in Canyon Creek. The best bait was a black Rat Finke with a couple maggots fished deep with a split shot. Trout seemed to be very deep and scattered. If you caught one you looked for more. I caught one fish on a spinner with worms.
Kokannee - There was 4 boats fishing for Kokannee in the mouth of Canyon Creek. We need to explore and find out why so many was fishing on a very overcast and cold day. There was one boat trolling for trout across from the boat launch. They hooked and landed a steelhead (about 5 pounds) . They appeared to be trolling large plastic grubs.
Duane collected a boat load of rocks and we called it a day after catching the last trout.
